There are enough pieces in this LEGO Prehistoric Power dinosaur kit to build eight different dinosaurs. The instruction manual gives directions on how to build a woolly mammoth, triceratops, parasarolophus, tyrannosaurus rex, stegosaurus, pteranodon, velociraptor, and a brachiosaurus. All eight dinosaurs cannot be made at the same time, but it is fun to build a dinosaur and play with it, then build another one to play with. A child will have mastered the art of using the LEGO pieces by the time they get to dinosaur number eight. Then the fun really starts as they build dinosaurs of their own creation.
There are no limits to the number of prehistoric creatures that can be built with the LEGO Prehistoric Power set. This product is recommended for children ages 6 through 11.

Though the recommended age starts at 6 years, one customer said that their 5 year old child could follow the directions mostly on his own to build all eight dinosaurs. It was his favorite holiday gift. Well worth the price! Anyone that is interested in dinosaurs and likes to play with LEGOs will really enjoy this kit. Though not marketed, the instruction manual has the directions for building eight prehistoric creatures, but also has pictures of other suggested creatures. So, the child playing with the kit can learn from the instructions the basics of building a dinosaur, and then see how many he or she can build by just looking at a picture.
Once the models are built they are durable and do not fall apart easily. This means a child can incorporate that model into his or her play, and not just build it to look at. There are 308 pieces in the box, and a child could potentially build scaled down models of more than one dinosaur at a time.
